Appointment of Specialty Training Advisory Committee Members

Application Deadline: Friday 30 April 2010 - 5.15 pm

Applications are invited from Members and Fellows of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology of the Royal College of Radiologists for appointment of 4 members of the Specialty Training Advisory Committee (STAC). The term of office for the appointed STAC members will be four years. The first STAC meeting of their term will be 9 September 2010.

The Committee is responsible for curriculum review, development of workplace based assessment procedures and establishing standards for quality assurance of training.

The appointments are open to consultant clinical radiologists, practising in the NHS, who can demonstrate their involvement in, and commitment to, radiological training and education. It would be desirable to have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • quality assurance and assessment of training
  • curriculum development
  • development and establishment of workplace based assessment tools

Applications must be supported by either the applicant's regional post-graduate education adviser or training programme director.

Application Procedure

  • Applications should be made by completing the Application Form. Applications should be restricted to the space available and no additional documents or continuation sheets may be attached. The form may also be obtained by sending an email to cilla_heath@rcr.ac.uk. Applications may only be submitted on paper.
  • Applications should be sent to the Education Administrator at the Royal College of Radiologists to arrive not later than 5.15 pm on Friday 30 April 2010.

Appointment Process

  • A panel nominated by the Royal College of Radiologists will consider applications. The decision of the panel is final and binding.
  • It is intended that the panel's recommendations will be reported to the Specialty Training Board meeting of 4 June 2010 for approval. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application as soon as possible after this date.
